Moisan was born in
Watertown (1946). It was his grandfather who taught him a
respect for the outdoors and a love for wildlife. (His mother, Betty, was
mayor of Watertown.) He graduated from USD in 1968 with a major in advertising art. After one year in advertising he was called up by the army. Following his discharge in 1972, he returned to USD to work on graduate studies in fine arts. He then became an art instructor at Saint Joseph's Indian School in Marty, SD. Moisan now lives Ft. Pierre. Moisan was co-chair of the state Korean Memorial committee. He is chairman of the commitee to determine the design for the South Dakota state quater. In 1972 his painting "Leathernecks" (on black cowhide) placed first at the
Kansas City Ducks Unlimited show. A watercolor finished third in the 1976 SD duck stamp
competition. |
