| Charles Wimar (1826-1862) | ||
| Born in Germany, Wimar eventually moved to the U.S. where he
painted wagon panels and made signs for merchants in St. Louis. While he was in the West
he collected photos, sketches and Indian artifacts for paintings produced later.
Four historical panels in rotunda of St. Louis courthouse were the first murals west of the Mississippi. |
