Here is Rusty's brief description of the book:
Scatterlings: Blair, Williams and Turner to Texas---1858 to 1873
is a 170-page hardbound book about families that migrated from Pittsylvania County (VA) to
Grayson and Fannin Counties (TX) in 1858. (Kitty Keen Blair was the first cousin of
Williams "Billy" Witcher, niece of Vincent O. Witcher and granddaughter of
William Reuben Witcher. B. F. Williams was a schoolteacher who taught the five Witcher
sons at a subscription school in Turkey Cock Creek.)
The Witcher families (of Virginia and Texas) are mentioned throughout
the book. But, more than a family history, this is a story of the economic and social
conditions that led many families to leave The Piedmont for Texas and a description of how
they carved out a new life south of the Red River.
